TLC Pet Lodge Adds Pet Activities to Lodging Services at Request of Pet Owners

Pet Lodging Facility in Mentor Offers Dog Owners Option of Additional Play Time

MENTOR, OHIO (June 29, 2010) –  TLC Pet Lodge, a pet lodging and grooming facility located in Mentor, has added more pet activities for the dogs to enjoy during their stay at the facility.  Pet owners who want their dogs or cats to have more one on one attention or special upgrades make the selection when they are reserving their pet’s accommodations at the pet lodge.

“Although we have offered activities for the dogs for the past three years, we’ve recently expanded our activities programs after comparing the results with other industry leaders and from a test during the holiday season this past year,” explained Marj Green-Beyer, Manager of TLC Pet Lodge.  “Pet owners who had their pet involved in our pet appropriate activities during their visit found that their pets stayed happier and healthier.  The owners reported back to TLC Pet Lodge how much more easily their dog adjusted to their visit.”

One of the ways that TLC Pet Lodge sets its services apart from traditional boarding kennels is by allowing owners to incorporate activities in to their pets lodging stay.  They recognize that activity is one of the keys to offering an environment that encourages happy, healthy pets. TLC Pet Lodge customers consider their pets as part of the family and want their dog to have a fun experience, filled with pet appropriate activities so they feel like they had a special vacation too.

There are several activity package programs or an owner can totally customize their pets stay. The design of each package program depends upon how much attention or activity the dog normally gets at home and how much excitement the owner wants the dog to have during their stay.

“One of our pet owners favorite choices, called Spoiled Rotten, includes multiple one-on-one playtimes throughout the day, a luxury suite upgrade, special tender loving care at bedtime and extra potty times,” said Green-Beyer. “Some of our customers have compared it to going to Grandma’s house with lots of interaction between the pets and humans.”

The staff at TLC Pet Lodge treats the dogs like they are a part of the lodge’s family.  They are only half joking when they say that “TLC means Treated Like Children.”  Because they want owners to have confidence in the level of care, they have established guidelines to allow for only dog activities that are one on one with human interaction, not a group.  Group activities are only offered among dogs that are part of an existing “dog family.”

TLC Pet Lodge Attains Exclusive Top Level Accreditation from Pet Care Industry Association

Pet Lodging Facility in Mentor Becomes First in Ohio and One of 10 in USA to Meet Strict PCSA Certification Criteria

MENTOR, OHIO (June 7, 2010) – TLC Pet Lodge, pet lodging and grooming facility located in Mentor, attained the highest industry accreditation with the Gold Ribbon Certificate of Accreditation from the Pet Care Services Association (PCSA).

“We’re honored to be the first pet lodging facility in Ohio to be awarded with the highest level of distinction,” said Marj Green-Beyer, Manager of TLC Pet Lodge.  “Our customers know the care we have for each owner’s pet, but we’re delighted to also be nationally recognized for our high level of pet care and facility management.”

The strict accreditation program from the PCSA contains over 250 standards in 17 separate areas of pet care facility operations, management, and customer service as well as an on-site inspection. Accredited facilities are re-evaluated every three years in order to maintain their accreditation.

Until this new level of accreditation was established, TLC Pet Lodge was only one of three facilities in the state of Ohio that had achieved the Blue Ribbon Certificate of Accreditation. Founded in 1977, the Pet Care Services Association, formerly the American Boarding Kennels Association, has more than 3,000 members in the pet care service business.

Facilities Manager Marj Green-Beyer is well known throughout the industry for her education and achievements. The only Certified Kennel Operator (CKO) in Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties with an accredited facility, she has completed the Solving Canine Behavior Problems continuing education program from the Animal Behavior Clinic at Cornell University, was named with the Best Groomed Dog Award at the 2006 HH Backer Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show in Chicago, and was selected for the Level II Difficulty Award for terriers at the 2007 Groom Expo in Hershey, PA.

March 7, 2010:Johnny Walker

Repercussions continue from Kinsman animal seizure

Johnny Walker was one of over 160 dogs recently rescued from a sanctuary where dogs were left unfed, with no attention, and left on short leashes their entire time there. Many dogs perished, but Johnny somehow made it out alive. What makes this even more amazing is that Johnny was at the sanctuary since he was a tiny puppy. He was kept on a short chain at the far corners of the property of his abuser and therefore was one of the most emaciated dogs rescued, but as much as Johnny was neglected his entire life, he returns the love tenfold!
